Lighting test photos

Here are the images from our lighting test in the studio:

This first image just has the one light in front of the subjects up high on a 45 degree angle. There are some good soft shadows created which we wanted and the background colour is perfect; not too bright and not too dark.


 For this photo we stood back against the wall which dulled the light on the subjects a bit more, but the shadows are a bit more prominent.


For this photo we added a background light to see what it would be like to brighten up the background.  It is very obvious the light is there so we would have to angle it better if we used it and also use a reflector so it isn't so dark on the other side like it is here. But I feel the other photos without the backlight are more successful.


This last photo we pulled the light back a bit. Its similar to the first photo but a bit softer and darker which I think is successful.


So after our test we have decided that we all like the first image and the lighting we achieved there. Here is a drawing of our final lighting plan for the studio shoot:
