Escapism and imagination

Looking at what the children experienced in World War II in London it is no wonder children used their imaginations to escape. What is captured in the movie The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is children simply using their imaginations to create a world where there was no war and no danger of bombings.

The definition of escapism is: the tendency to seek distraction and relief from unpleasant realities, for example by seeking entertainment or engaging in fantasy.

We easily associate escapism with children because it easily links with fantasy and imagination. For some reason we grow up and let go of these traits because we have to face reality. Yet some adults embrace the use of imagination and these people are usually the creatives. The ones that create the abstract artworks and eerie images. They create the movies that make us believe in the fiction and the music that transports us away. This is our version of escapism. We escape reality through creative things that stimulate our minds and distract us.

Here are some examples of objects that are all about imagination and fantasy;

Gerhard Richter - an abstract artist; his paintings give us room to think and allows us to unravel whatever message we receive from it.

Greys Anatomy - people every week tune into a tv show such as this to escape reality and relax

This is what our band is all about. Their aim is to transport you through various emotions and connect you to memories and simply escape from reality through their music.
